The popular 50 Most Powerful Women in Business (Fortune’s annual ranking of America’s leading businesswomen) is out. The top ten are:
Irene Rosenfeld, Kraft Foods
Indira Nooyi, PepsiCo
Patricia Woertz, Archer Daniel Midland
Ellen Kullman, E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company(“DuPont”)
Angela Braly, WellPoint, Inc
Andrea Jung, Avon
Ginni Rometty, IBM
Ursula Burns, Xerox
Meg Whitman, Hewlett Packard
Sherilyn McCoy, Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals
Any surprises? Interesting that the top three are food and beverage executives. There are also 3 on the top ten representing technology companies; three from healthcare/pharma and one from consumer goods.
What role do you think communication played in landing these women in the top ten (several of them have been here before)! Would like to see your comments!
